After
Our customer came to us with some great
bathroom remodeling ideas. They loved the
classic look of subway tile and beadboard.
Their search for ideas led them to a fine
quality imported carerra marble and
Nantucket-style beadboard.
Inspired by the classic look of tongue and
groove paneling, Nantucket-style
BeadBoard is a simple way to give a home
an elegant finish. The beadboard was
finished with two coats of durable oil base
paint.
The existing pipe-chase (faucet wall) was
new shower base is custom-built with a
concrete base, threshold and mosaic tiles.
The walls are Denshield under imported
carerra marble from Turkey. The wall tiles
are 3 x 6 installed with the subway pattern.
The header is topped with a pencil line,
then mosaic and capped with chair rail.
The glass panel is made by Basco.
The whirpool deck was layered with 12"
carerra tile atop Denshield backer board.
The cultured marble vanity top was
removed and in its place we installed 1/2"
OSB, 1/4" troweled thinset and applied 1/4"
cement board. The top was finished with
12" carerra marble squares with a mosaic
backsplash.
The old floor was porcelain tile and
replaced with 1/2" concrete board and 12" x
12" marble tile.
The counters were completed with vessel
sinks and vertical faucets.
The project was completed in six weeks.

The BEFORE bathroom was green
ceramic tile with pale yellow walls.
We saved the customer a few dollars
and made a more attractive whirlpool
deck by going over the existing tile and
rasing the deck to bring the jacuzzi
almost flush with the carerra marble.
Not only does it look better but it is
easier to get in and out of the tub.
The BEFORE bathroom picture
(above) shows the pocket door
in the open position. There was
no reason to have the pocket
door so we removed it and
framed the new doorway with
bead board "Philadelphia
fencing" and capped it with a
chair rail and a small shelf
above the Jacuzzi.
