  • Recycle old materials.back in the new bathroom. If you have 2 x
    4's, subfloors, underlayments that have to come out try to save
    the material for re-installation.
  • Recycle for Earth, for Someone else. For your discarded tub,
    faucets, tile and so forth contact Habitat for Humanity or the local
    Goodwill, Freecycle or one of many recycle non-profits.. These
    are excellent ways to utilize precious resources and help
    someone less fortunate-- gets you a tax break too.
  • Be Creative with use of materials. Excellent results are
    possible with "found' materials. It can be mirrors, shelving, tile,
    woodwork-- go online to craigslist under materials and you can
    find all sorts of low cost bathroom remodel materials.
  • Be Careful with color. If you put too much emphasis on a
    particular color theme you are stuck later when you want new
    towels or curtains. Keep  the basics neutral and pull color in
    from the towels, decorations and so forth.
