Infobox
[edit]Thanks for your edits! Just so you know a bot adds this automatically to any category with a Wikidata link, there's no need to do it yourself. Blythwood (talk) 00:43, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Blythwood, thanks for the advice - it's always welcome! :)
- What I'm doing is using the Quarry querying service to find categories of specific things that aren't linked to wikidata, and then linking them or creating the item. Quarry seems to require that an infobox be present on the category in order to no longer be returned as unlinked, so I manually add the infobox to save having to re-check the category when running the same or adjacent queries.
- PS if you (or anyone else reading this) are interested in Quarry, Jheald wrote these extremely useful queries:

- These are my forks of his queries, which might give context to any future edits I make to Commons:

Ss
[edit]Ss is an abbreviation used in a church name when there are multiple saints. Not a typo! Secretlondon (talk) 07:42, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- Category:St Peter and St Paul's church, Ribchester was older than Category:Ss Peter and Paul, Ribchester and is seemingly the proper and most common name of the church. Tæppa (talk) 11:15, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for creating these.
You might have noticed a formatting issue with them - the images don't appear until after the infobox. This is because the pages are newly created and there's a floating 'Mark this page as patrolled' box down the bottom which pushes the images down - although I think this might only appear for some editors (when the page hasn't been patrolled and it's viewed by an editor with the rights to patrol it).
An easy fix for this would be for you to have the 'autopatrolled' right, see COM:Autopatrol. You can request this here: COM:Requests_for_rights#Autopatrol. You've been here long enough and created enough pages that this is just a formality. Andy Dingley (talk) 23:49, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm not quite sure what you mean about page the formatting issue. For me the infobox occupies the rightmost 20% of the screen and images appear below the ' Media in category "xyz" ' line, which is about 60% up from the bottom of the page. I did raise an issue with the wd infobox conflicting with other templates [1] so it would probably be useful if you also raise this formatting issue in the relevant technical place. - How does Category:The Thatched Tavern, Appleton Look to you? Vs. Category:The Wine Vaults, Banbury ?
- There's a technical fix to this, but it's never going to happen. It's caused by interactions between two unrelated pieces of Commons, and a CSS issue that depends on which user skin the reader is using. I also suspect that it might only be showing the box when it's needed, and when the reader might be able to act on that. So I can see it on your creations. It's not on my creations, because they've already had the box auto-dismissed (as the page is patrolled). I don't know if you can see it on yours (like the Thatched Tavern), because I suspect that it doesn't show the box to people who aren't able to act on it. Andy Dingley (talk) 00:51, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- They look the same (images and particular names aside). Curiously "Expand all" and "RSS feed" are different ways round. Spot checking a few other categories "Expand all" (for expanding/collapsing the infobox) appears first, and the discrepancy has dissapeared after I closed and opened the page again.
- PS I use Vector Legacy (2010) despite never having a wikimedia account before the 2022 skin became default. It makes no sense to trim the width space where files can appear by 32%, or to have 2 sepearate navigation collums on both sides of the page. Tæppa (talk) 01:08, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
Autopatrol given
[edit]
Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 04:15, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
